Hi Sue,

some great photo's, you have a really good eye for composition and finding the photo.
Did you study photography at college or have you picked it up as you went along?   Just curious as I am getting some basic equipment together and planning to continue with a hobby I stop doing 30 years ago.

Any tips..........

Thank you for your lovely comment Greenhat.

My Father was a keen photographer but he wouldn't let me near his camera equipment in case I broke it.  At 15 I worked in a local chemist where they sold cameras and I used to borrow one of them (without the pharmicist knowing!) to use at weekends.....it was a SLR, completely manual and I had to learn as I went along by making lots of mistakes and spending a small fortune on film and processing!  Over the years I've had many different types of camera and for the past 4 Years I've been using digital exclusively.  I'm now on my 3rd DSLR a Nikon D80 which is a great camera - I also have lots of different lenses to give me different kinds of effects and for different lighting conditions; but when I'm travelling the only lens I carry with me is an 18-125mm Sigma which is a great all round lens.

I've had no formal training except for a weeks workshop at a local college for 'social photography' - this was prior to my setting up my wedding photography business 4 years ago. Portraiture is my favourite genre although I'm passionate about all types of photography.

So 45 years after pinching that camera off the chemist's shelf - I'm still loving it and take my camera with me everywhere!

Get out there Greenhat - you don't need to spend a lot of money - photography isn't about what you've got....more about how you use it smile/freak4.gif but I guess you probably know that anyway.

If you want to, we could meet up somewhere and spend a day taking photos!  Anyone else want to come along?

We'll be in Galera next (longterm ) in mid June or there abouts - you may have moved in to your cave by then too!  I'll be in touch nearer the time and we can explore!
